STEYR SSG 69
So many rifle owners want the reliability and strength of a metal magazine for their rifle. But now days, they want more - larger capacity, longer OAL and long wearing. AND, they don't want to make modifications to obtain their needs. Waters Rifleman may be able to help...allowing shooters to achieve a complete magazine solution. - Many solutions and designs are drop in fit, meaning no modification require (refer to each instance for confirmation on this). - Made of light weight aircraft grade billet aluminium, hard black anodised (not regular decorative anodise) finish (may be some variation in colour from batch to batch). - Can be disassembled for easy cleaning and maintenance (recommended). - Reliable tempered Stainless Steel coil spring activating a POM injection moulded OR an or ABS printed follower. - Deep side wall followers to reduce tipping and jamming (stove piping) and increase reliability. - Extended length internals (where possible) to allow longer rounds with longer bullets or bullets seated out further (eg. 223 loading 80 grain projectiles out to the lands).
FIT & FUNCTION: These magazines are made for the fastidious shooter that wants the BEST match grade AND MATCH WINNING magazine available. Likewise, shooters of the Waters Rifleman mags are expected to have a basic understanding of how magazines work - understanding tolerances, temperature change, round stacking geometry, etc. This is precision equipment, and precision equipment should be maintained. Click here for WR MAGAZNIE ASSEMBLY and MAINTENANCE USER GUIDE.
DOESN'T FIT. There have been the odd occasion where a shooter magazine will not latching/clicking in place easily. We believe this is due to an intolerance of the rifle stock during moulding, or possibly swelling from moisture, or by over tightening of the stock take-down screws, or a number of other things. Also, some shooters are bedding their receivers, which increases the receiver height from the floor of the stock. Our mags are made to factory spec plus or minus 0.1mm, and from billet aluminium that won't suffer post machining change. If the magazine is too tight to latch, Click here for WR MAGAZINE ASSEMBLY and MAINTENANCE USER GUIDE.
TIGHT IS BEST: Ensuring a tight and solid fit keeps your repeater rifle close in performance as a bolt action single shot rifle. Tight and solid assembly and fixing keeps harmonic vibration even through the whole rifle system, and helps dampen the vibration quicker and minimise vibration intensity spots.
MARKING AND SACRIFICE: WR magazines are made of metal. Metal on metal will always result in witness marks. Use of the WR mag will result in witness marks on the aluminium magazine body. This is always going to happen, and is preferred to protect undue wear in the more expensive rifle receiver. The sacrificial wear areas are the front latch tang, rear top flat where mating the trigger front tension leaf spring, and the top rear pivot corners. Witness marks can be marked over with black.

=========================================================================================================WR STEYR SSG 69 FLOORPLATE BOTTOM METAL (DBM) TRIGGER GUARDFOR AI / AICS SHORT ACTION MAGAZINES. *** Drop In Fit *** Click here for SSG 69 AICS SA Information and Instruction Sheet. The 2025 version is now available. 23 years in the making, we have decided to stop chasing all the variety of AICS short action magazines, and receive the blame for those mags, and stick with a design for a proven, cheap and widley available AICS SA mag...with front binder plate.Note, this item is drop in fit - no modifications. Fitting takes just a few minutes. Note, unlike other designs, this design has the mag enter the receiver at a front on an angle, so the round strips more directly into the chamber, and reduces the bolt resistance when using metal based AI pattern magazines.
The inlet has an extra deep angled flange inlet for speed inserting a magazine.
Like the original 2002, 2008 and 2019 units, this is made of light weight 6000 series aluminium, but the 2025 version is the lightest ever, weighing in at 130grams (4.6oz). And, being metal, this also helps reduce fatigue in the stock near the magazine area (the plastic factory floorplate does not help as much as this metal unit does) to help reduce the stock possibly cracking.
Has the usual WR extra large trigger hoop to make greater accommodation of a thin gloved finger (eg. for winter shooting).
The trigger inlet is long enought to accommodate the double set trigger, but the thru slot is single trigger size. Material is thin and soft enough to be simply filed out to allow the second trigger through.
Suggested magazines for most reliable use are the MDT all metal AICS pattern mags with front binder plate (these were used for testing the latest DBM version). If this mag does not clip, the fix is extremely minimal - 30 seconds with a fine small file. We've had the slightest of geometry issue in a couple of rifles, and the fix is to either file the front ramp slightly to increase feed taper, or slightly open the MDT mag retainer lips to lift the round fractionally higher.
We do NOT recommend other magazines, including magazines with external ribs, poly/metal combos, etc. PN: 1031 (2024 version), Price A$320ea. AVAILABLE, BUT LOW STOCK. Mass approx 130 grams (approx 4.6 oz).
